17th Domenica Cup – March 5, 2022

International Open Kyokushin Karate Tournament 17th Domenica Cup was held in the city of Sveta Nedelja, Zagreb County, Croatia, on March 5, 2022 in organization of Kyokushin Karate Club Domenica Sveta Nedelja and IKO Matsushima Kyokushinkaikan Croatia with Croatian Kyokushinkai Association.

The main sponsors of the tournament were the Zagreb County and the city of Sveta Nedelja.

On tournament participated:

  • 16 teams of different Kyokushin organization and other styles of martial arts with total number of 131 competitors from kids to adults
  • 31 competitors in 6 categories of Kata competition
  • 121 competitors in 30 categories of Kumite competition
  • 11 countries (Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland and Croatia)

On the one hand we should be happy that we finally organized the twice postponed 17th Domenica Cup, but on the other hand we are very sad that after years of regular attendance at the tournament, this time the competitors from Ukraine did not participated because of Russian aggression and war in their country.

Therefore, in support of our dear friends who were with us in our thoughts and to support the Ukrainian people in this imposed war, along with the other 11 flags of the participants, there was the flag of Ukraine.

Kyokushin karate Club Domenica with this tournament marked its 20th anniversary. On this occasion, we are grateful to everyone who helped us in any way during that period.

Many thanks to all who have made this tournament so good. Especially to competitors, their coaches, parents and friends. Also many thanks to referees and every single volunteer on the tournament.
