On tournament participated 82 competitors in kata and 66 in kumite from 12 clubs from the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.
In front of the Association of Veterans of the Special Police Unit “Alfa”, Davor Komljenović greeted all those present, while Vladimir Faber, as the first commander of the unit, emphasized the importance of this sporting event and admitted that Branko would be proud to see the youth gathered in Samobor.
On behalf of the City of Samobor, all the competitors and their coaches were greeted and welcomed by the City Councilor Sandra Starjački, wishing them good luck in their fights.
The tournament was officially opened by Marko Ratković, envoy of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Croatian Veterans’ Affairs Tome Medved, who emphasized in his speech that he sees the potential of future members of special forces among the young competitors.
After the opening ceremony, members of the Special Police Unit from the Osijek-Baranja Police Department, demonstrated their readiness and skills.
The organization of this memorial tournament was attended by the Veterans Association SJP Alfa Zagreb, Kyokushin Karate Club Fortis Samobor, Kyokushin Karate Club Domenica Sveta Nedelja, Karate Club Alfa Zagreb, Sports Recreation Society of the Sport for All Samobor and the City District of Sveta Helena.
